Understanding the Demographic Dividend (Comprendre le dividende démographique)
“A new book seeks to simplifying the understanding of the demographic dividend that will emerge in Africa. African researchers hope to popularize this development tool that has its roots in the economy. It is the period in which wealth producers explode in numbers. On the other hand, those who depend on this wealth are few in number. The producers here refer to adults whose age range is between 15 and 64 years. It is the age group where “the dependency rate is relatively low, given the high concentration in the adult age group”. The demographer Parfait Eloundou, explained it at a workshop. Last Friday in Yaounde, with members of the Network of Journalists for Health and Development (Rejosade).
